TDK Land Acquisition – Frequently Asked Questions

What is the major news TDK is announcing?

The Denver Kehillah (TDK) has signed a purchase and sale agreement with the Denver Academy of Torah (DAT) to acquire the northernmost 1.96 acres of the Glassman Educational Campus. This is the first step toward establishing a permanent home for our growing Modern Orthodox synagogue.

Why is this land acquisition significant?

Owning land will allow TDK to create a lasting and vibrant center for Torah, tefillah, and community life—ensuring a permanent home for our kehillah in Denver for generations to come.

Who made this opportunity possible?

This transformative step is made possible through the extraordinary generosity of Evan and Evi Makovsky and the Shana Glassman Foundation, whose vision and leadership are paving the way for the future of Orthodox life in Denver.

Is the purchase final?

Not yet. Signing the purchase and sale agreement is an important first step. The coming months will involve continued planning, community engagement, fundraising, and securing jurisdictional approvals before the acquisition is completed.

What happens next?

Over the next several months, TDK will:

  • Engage the community to discuss possibilities and gather input
  • Begin planning for a capital campaign

  • Move forward on required technical, legal, and jurisdictional steps

  • Continue working with DAT toward completing the acquisition

What committees are being formed?

Two committees will guide the process:

1. Capital Campaign Committee – will plan and oversee all fundraising efforts.

2. Design and Building Committee – will manage design, permitting, and construction coordination. This committee will also ensure that our future shul is thoughtfully designed—reflecting our values, enhancing our tefillah experience, and creating an inspiring, beautiful space for our community.

How did DAT help make this step possible?

We are deeply grateful to DAT leadership for partnering with us on this agreement and look forward to continued collaboration as we move toward closing.

How will TDK and DAT relate to one another going forward?

TDK and DAT are independent organizations, each guided by their own Boards, leadership, funding, and staff. Both institutions look forward to being good neighbors while maintaining their distinct identities and missions.

How can community members get involved?

This is truly a community project. Members can help by:

  • Sharing ideas and dreams for what our future home should include

  • Volunteering time or expertise as plans take shape

  • Helping spread the word

  • Offering connections to potential supporters

  • Participating in the upcoming capital campaign when the time comes

Everyone has a role to play in helping bring this vision to life.

What is the long-term vision for the project?

Our goal is not only to build a physical structure but to create a spiritual home that reflects the heart of our kehillah—a place of belonging, growth, prayer, learning, and community for generations to come.

How will updates be shared?

TDK will continue to keep the community informed as plans progress. More details, opportunities for involvement, and updates will be shared regularly.
